The Pittsburgh Steelers are honored in the name of quarterback Patrick Mahomes of the Kansas City Chiefs.
The quarterback’s wife, Brittany Mahomes, revealed in a People interview that one of their two canines had the Steelers as its moniker.
The cause? She mentioned that she was a Steelers fan in the past. Brittany Mahomes told People, “I actually used to be a Steelers fan, and that’s how I got the name Steel, so that’s a great story.”
She reported that while enrolled at the University of Texas at Tyler, she contracted Steel. When she was a junior, Patrick Mahomes gave her the dog as a Valentine’s Day gift.
She described her second dog, Silver, and Steel to People as “wild and full of energy.” Silver is a cane corso and Steel is a pit bull, according to the dogs’ Instagram profile. Brittany Mahomes said of them, “They’re basically our children,” to People.
On Christmas Day, the Steelers take on Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. Acrisure Stadium will host kickoff at 1:00 p.m., and Netflix will webcast the match.
