Trevor Lawrence, the quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and the team came to an agreement that will keep the former Clemson Tiger star in Jacksonville through the 2028 campaign.

Lawrence is the face of the team.Lawrence now ranks among the top paid players in league history thanks to the deal extension. Lawrence and the Jaguars agreed on a $275 million five-year contract that includes a $37.5 million signing bonus and a guaranteed $142 million amount. With the new deal, the quarterback from Jacksonville joins an exclusive group of quarterbacks who earn the highest salaries in the league.

No one is going to even come close to flirting with Patrick Mahomes’ 10 year deal worth $450 million for at least a few more years, but what Lawrence’s contract does do is puts him level with Joe Burrow for highest yearly salary. Both signal callers, who are figured to be the next batch of generational quarterbacks, will be making $55 million a year.

Jags on the mend?

Let’s do some math and pull out the calculator. He is on schedule to make $150,684 per day and $6,278 per hour if his annual income of $55 million is as planned.

That would be the case if Lawrence worked full-time, but remember that he only participates in 17 games during the regular season. If you take that angle, his earnings per game come to $3,235,294.

Of all, an NFL season consists of more than just the games. After a poor season finale, he will go through training camps, preseason, and practices to try to get the Jags back to the postseason.

He struggled through a few ailments that kept him out of action and added to the Jags’ incredible late-season collapse, during which they miraculously missed the playoffs despite losing five of their final six games.

Lawrence is excellent on the field when he is well. Even though he has a 21-31 overall record over three seasons, we must keep in mind that three years ago, a horrible Jacksonville squad selected him with the first selection in the draft.

He has guided his team to the postseason in three years, throwing for 11,770 yards, 58 touchdowns, 39 interceptions, and a 64% completion percentage. In order to breach a defense, he can also use his legs. In addition to his 11 rushing touchdowns, he has committed 21 ball fumbles.
