The Pittsburgh Steelers completed their organized team activities, or required minicamp, this week at the UPMC Rooney Sports Complex, and it’s evident that they have a good team developing as some players stood out.

Following impressive starts to preseason sessions, Nick Herbig, Jaylen Warren, Van Jefferson, and Calvin Austin III have appeared to be set to lead the Steelers to huge seasons after four weeks of practice.

It’s imperative for the Steelers that Warren, Jefferson, and Austin make progress as the offense searches for a legitimate No. 2 option to complement George Pickens and the running game players to be featured heavily.

However, there are certain off-field matters that have to be discussed. With head coach Mike Tomlin’s permission, Najee Harris missed the first day of minicamp.

After that, he stayed out of the action for the next two days. Although the Steelers declined to pick up Harris’ fifth-year contract extension, general manager Omar Khan stated that the organization is still open to potentially signing Harris to a long-term deal.

It is unclear how this connects to Harris’s current contract status. The news never stops even when the Steelers are about to take a break. Before they arrive in Latrobe, Pennsylvania to begin their 2024 season at St. Vincent College, there are still a lot of arrangements and preparations to finish.
