James Washington, a former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver, is looking to stage a comeback after being sidelined for the last two seasons because of injuries.

Washington, who joined the Cowboys before the 2022 season with the intention of being the team’s third receiver, is determined to make a comeback to the NFL despite not having played since the 2022 season. The 28-year-old receiver played in just two games for the Cowboys before fracturing the fifth metatarsal in his right foot during training camp. He did not register any statistics during his brief time with Dallas.

Wide receiver James Washington, a former second-round draft pick of the Steelers, is making a determined effort to return to the NFL after being sidelined for the majority of the past two seasons due to a jones fracture. According to Fowler, Washington has garnered interest from multiple teams and may soon have the opportunity to try out for them. In addition to this news, Washington took to Instagram to share his aspirations of a comeback.

He posted a video along with a caption that expressed his determination. Washington stated, “I have been overlooked and I am determined to prove to the world that I still possess the skills and abilities. Despite what people may say, claiming that I am finished and washed up, I still have a lot to offer in terms of conditioning and physicality. I am stronger than ever before. I dedicate five days a week to training, and the remaining two days are spent contemplating my goals.”

James Washington Had Disappointing Cowboys Tenure

Dallas signed Washington before the 2022 season after Amari Cooper and Cedrick Wilson Jr. left during the offseason. However, injuries before training camp and a slow recovery delayed his debut with the team until December. He was eventually released before the end of the season and joined the New York Giants’ practice squad. One advantage of joining the Cowboys was that Washington had more time to spend at his 40-acre ranch in the Merkel area. When he signed with the Cowboys, Washington described his daily routine at that time.

Washington mentioned in March 2022 that he typically exercises around 8:30 to 9:30 in the morning. Upon returning, he takes care of feeding the horses and cows, as well as checking on everything to ensure it is in order. In the afternoon, he goes back to work out from 3:30 to 5:30. If he has some free time, he sometimes engages in roping, especially on weekends. Washington then returns to tend to the cattle, check on the horses once more, and ensure that everything is properly fed. Apart from these tasks, he spends time with his wife at home, savoring the ranch life in a remote location.

The experienced wide receiver ultimately secured an agreement with the New Orleans Saints after the 2023 NFL draft. Nevertheless, he was let go three months later, just before the commencement of the season. Subsequently, Washington inked a contract with the Indianapolis Colts prior to his release ahead of the 2023 season.

James Washington Had Productive Stint as Steelers Receiver

Throughout his collegiate career in 2017, he was honored with the Fred Biletnikoff Award and recognized as a Unanimous All-American. Following his successful college years, he began his professional career with the Pittsburgh Steelers as a secondary receiver. Over the course of four seasons with the team, Washington accumulated 114 receptions for 1,629 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 60 games and 25 starts. His most impressive season came in 2019, where he recorded 44 receptions for 735 receiving yards and three touchdowns.
