Legendary fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who acquired Fields this spring by trading a conditional sixth-round pick to the Chicago Bears, expressed concern about the quarterback’s talents after seeing a video of him go viral on Wednesday afternoon.

Justin Fields didn’t perform well at Pittsburgh Steelers OTAs

Fields was signed by the Steelers with the understanding that he would serve as experienced quarterback Russell Wilson’s backup in 2024. Wilson is still in the QB1 pole position following Fields’ unsatisfactory performance during OTAs this spring, as was previously covered on GH: [Mark] Wilson was praised by Kaboly, but following the team’s formal OTAs, Fields wasn’t nearly as well-reviewed in his report.

Kaboly wrote, “Don’t get bent out of shape with Fields finding himself on this list.” “His ability is self-evident. He must overcome numerous challenges this year in order to have an opportunity, unlike Wilson.

Fields saw little playing time with the first squad, which will be important come training camp. More than that, it’s evident why the Chicago Bears decided to move on from him and why they selected him in the first round.

There’s no denying his arm strength, speed, and ability to make plays with his legs. But after the initial read, he became overly reliant on his feet and displayed uneven accuracy. Things like that are fixable, but perhaps not during a boot camp.

It is obvious that Fields needs to improve significantly throughout training camp if he is to seriously challenge Wilson for the starting position with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Le’Veon Bell noticed something was off with Fields

La’Veon Ball, a former running back for the Steelers, promoted proof of Fields’ problems this spring. He criticized a widely shared Route God video that went viral and showed Fields throwing throws to wide receivers toward the end of their route:
