Barry Sanders, the icon of the Detroit Lions, is 55 years old, in case you were wondering. Almost thirty years have passed since the NFL was tormented by the ten-time Pro Bowl running back, who was among the greatest in history.

The Hall of Famer made a startling disclosure on Friday regarding a recent health scare he experienced on X, formerly Twitter. It seems like Sanders’ plans for the Father’s Day weekend did not quite work out.

Detroit Lions News: Barry Sanders Reveals Recent Health Scare

In an official declaration that was made public on Friday, Sanders disclosed that he had a cardiac condition. However, the six-time All-Pro running back withheld certain specifics about the health scare:

Sanders added, “I had a heart-related health scare over Father’s Day weekend.” “Even though we are feeling fine, it is important to remain vigilant about our physical well-being. It was unexpected.”

Given that the issue was “unexpected,” it appears that Sanders’s health is good right now. But as he pointed out, this is also most likely the reason the cardiac problem was unexpected.

Sanders pledged to pay closer attention to his general health and thanked the medical professionals and nurses who helped him during his ordeal:

“I am appreciative of the wonderful physicians, nurses, and other medical staff who gave me the necessary treatment. We appreciate your prayers and support during this time, on behalf of my family and myself.

As advised by my physicians, I am seizing this chance to put my health and wellbeing first. I value your comprehension and on-going assistance.
