Officials said that after he fell off the bull, it stepped on him. His mother, Peter De Luna, said he had only started riding bulls a year earlier.

Her son, she added, started participating in the rodeo last year. Though she was anxious about it, she wanted to encourage his aspirations. She recalled, “Every time he rode, I would kiss him before he did, wish him luck, and tell him to stay safe.”

She claimed Peter’s girlfriend was at the rodeo on Friday even though she was unable to go. That evening, she called to share the awful news.

Vanessa remarked, “My heart breaks for her.” She was with him that evening, you know. She was the one who called, and I could tell how terrified she sounded.”

Another rodeo in Bulverde was held in Peter’s honor the day following his passing. Vanessa expressed her gratitude for the rodeo community’s support as she struggles to process his death.

Vanessa remarked, “I can’t hold anybody accountable for it.” “I’m just relieved that he’s in a better place because, as bull riders, they understand the risks involved in this.”

She did, however, add that Peter was a caring elder brother and the light of the party away from the rodeos. Vanessa remarked, “He was a pleasure to be around; he always made people laugh.” She added that many people miss him.

The family is receiving assistance through a GoFundMe. Furthermore, Gold Buckle Hatters, a Bandera hat shaping company, is holding a raffle with all proceeds going to the family. The winner will select any hat up to a $900 value; tickets are $15.
