Drama would be a necessary part of any Dallas Cowboys offseason, and on Friday we got our fill when safety Malik Hooker insulted Micah Parsons on his podcast.
Drama has been brewing within the Dallas Cowboys organization as they enjoy some downtime before the start of training camp in late July.
Although such rumors have since been denied, head coach Mike McCarthy reportedly feels “fed up” with Jerry Jones. As a result, teammates are now debating one other on social media.
The safety of cowboys When Malik Hooker appeared on Keyshawn Johnson’s All Facts No Brakes podcast, his remarks caused some people to take notice.
When questioned about his opinions on athletes launching podcasts and promoting themselves on social media, Hooker took a clear jab at Cowboys star edge rusher Micah Parsons, who skipped mandatory minicamp and OTAs. Given that Parsons is devoting so much time to his podcast, Hooker questioned where his priorities lie.
“Leave your feet where you are and know that we’re all okay,” Hooker advised Micah. “Because what are you really caring about if we’re at work and the run game is bad but you’re doing a podcast every week and you know the run game is terrible?”
Do you give a damn about the people who are listening to your podcast? or giving a damn about our team’s performance and our goal of winning the Super Bowl? Hooker showed Parsons some grace by pointing out that the defensive star is still a “big kid” despite the comments creating a lot of talk on social media.
However, Hooker added, “people also need to remember Micah’s youth.” “He’s still attempting to grow into the person he wants to be and discover his path.
I therefore provide him grace. Michah is still a little child. Furthermore, it’s hard to blame an older child for attempting to grow up and for experiencing things that they haven’t actually experienced. Micah has only four years of league experience. He hasn’t experienced everything yet; there are still experiences. He has not yet experienced true adversity.
He is unaware of that. Therefore, I believe that as he faces hardship over the course of the next few years, he will begin to alter his approach to such things as the podcast and other such endeavors.
Everything will be forgiven as long as Parsons arrives at training camp in good health and prepared to produce at an All-Pro level once more. Naturally, it would be preferable to the Cowboys if Parsons reduced his podcasting throughout the season.
Using a similar strategy, Parsons had 64 total tackles, 18 tackles for a loss, 33 quarterback hits, and a career-high 14 sacks in the previous campaign. Mike Zimmer, the new defensive coordinator, would love a repeat of that caliber of performance.
On Tuesday, July 23, the Dallas Cowboys will depart for the West Coast in advance of the inaugural news conference the next day. Thursday, July 25, is the first training camp practice for the team.
