Ahead of the 2024 Summer Games in Paris next month, five-time gold medallist Missy Franklin discussed her hopes for Katie Ledecky in an interview with Fox News Digital.

The 16-year-old American track and field athlete Quincy Wilson revealed on social media that he will be competing in the Olympics. Wilson will make history as the youngest track athlete to represent the United States in the Games when she joins the 4×400-meter relay team.

Prior to Erriyon Knighton (2021) at 17 years old, and Jim Ryun (1964), these two Americans were the youngest track competitors to compete in the Olympics.

After that, I gave Quincy the good news,” Lee said. Wilson, a standout athlete from Potomac, Maryland’s Bullis School, which is located just outside of Washington, D.C., was attracting attention at the U.S. Olympic trials in Oregon when he not only broke the 400-meter world mark for under-18 runners, but also beat his own record time the same weekend. On June 21, Wilson ran a 44.66-second 400 meters, shattering Justin Robinson’s previous record of 44.84 seconds.

Then, on June 23, Wilson beat his own record with a time of 44.59 during the 400-meter semifinals. On June 21, 2024, in Eugene, Oregon, Quincy Wilson participates in the men’s 400-meter dash preliminary round at the U.S. Olympic Team Track & Field Trials at Hayward Field.

After shattering his own under-18 world record in the quarterfinal, Wilson declared, “I’ve never been this happy a day in my life when it comes to track.”

Wilson will never forget his experience competing as a team, but as an individual runner, he came dangerously near to making Team USA.

At the U.S. trials, he placed sixth in the 400-meter final, but USA Track & Field evidently saw enough in this young runner to put him to the 4×400 squad. Which leg Wilson will race in Paris next month with his USA teammates is still up in the air.
