One of the best bucking bulls, Bushwacker, is no longer with us. He was eighteen. No formal cause of death was disclosed.

PBR Commissioner Sean Gleason posted on Facebook, saying, “Bushwacker, the bucking bull many consider the greatest of all time, calmly laid down yesterday, closed his eyes, and passed away.”

He was eighteen years old and had been living a comfortable retirement on Julio Moreno’s California ranch for the previous ten years.

A really legendary PBR Brand of Honor career before it, one that included three world titles (2011, 2013, and 2014), 64 buckoffs in 66 outs, and the iconic 42-out buckoff run that was ultimately ended by JB Mauney.

He was regarded as the sport’s equivalent of Michael Jordan or Muhammad Ali. In August 2023, the PBR had earlier declared that Bushwacker was the greatest bull in PBR history.

The Bull operated from 2009 and 2014. Bushwacker belongs to the 2020 class of the Bull Riding Hall of Fame.

In 2016, they were also included in the PBR Brand of Honor.

In 2011 and 2013, Bushwacker won the PBR Bull of the World Finals. The Bull also took home the 2011–2013–2014 PBR World Champion Bull title.

He was a cunning, very competitive heavyweight. Julio actually likened him to Muhammad Ali,” Gleason continued. He strutted across the arena acting like the greatest because he knew he was.

Off the dirt, no bull has ever gotten as much attention or enjoyed it as much as this one has. During his reign, the proud chocolate bovine who was always happy to be photographed became a mainstream pop culture superstar and the most popular PBR athlete.

He was compared to Michael Jordan by Newsweek. He was the first animal to appear in ESPN the Magazine’s well-known “Body” issue. He was above our sport.

When he was competing, he was a king. He won the PBR World Championship three times. In addition, the bull held other records.Bushwacker reigned supreme in the arena and remained so all the way to the conclusion.

He will always be associated with greatness, strength, power, and unwavering athleticism. Champ, may you rest in peace. Yesterday, Bushwacker, the spirited bull who is regarded by many as the best of all time, quietly lay down, closed his eyes and sleep off never to wake-up again.
