DETROIT – Touchdown celebrations have long been part of the NFL’s entertainment factor, and this preseason, Detroit Lions rookie wide receiver Isaac TeSlaa added his own memorable entry.

In the Lions’ preseason matchup against the Miami Dolphins, TeSlaa found the end zone and followed it up with a celebration that immediately went viral. After securing the score, the undrafted rookie dropped to the turf and broke out “the worm,” a move that quickly made its way across highlight reels and social media feeds.

While the celebration drew laughs and attention, TeSlaa’s performance on the field is what has earned him recognition from coaches and teammates. Throughout training camp and preseason action, the former Division II standout has demonstrated reliable hands, solid route-running, and a knack for creating separation.

Those performances have positioned him as a strong candidate for a roster spot, with head coach Dan Campbell and his staff taking notice of his ability to contribute in multiple phases of the offense.

Beyond the statistics, TeSlaa has shown the kind of energy that resonates with teammates. His viral celebration was just the latest example of the confidence and enthusiasm he has brought to the field since arriving in Detroit.

Although comparisons to breakout rookie receivers such as Puka Nacua may be premature, TeSlaa has earned legitimate consideration as a valuable depth piece in the Lions’ wide receiver group. With a strong preseason behind him, he is expected to carry that momentum into the regular season, where Detroit will look for steady contributions from its younger players.

For now, TeSlaa’s touchdown celebration stands as a lighthearted highlight of the Lions’ preseason—but it also underscores the impact a rookie can make both on and off the field.
