BYU-Arizona Basketball Earns ESPN Big Monday Slot
ESPN unveiled its Big Monday slate for the 2026 campaign, and BYU-Arizona is scheduled for Monday, January 26 at 7 p.m. MT in Provo. Listed below are the six Big Monday games from the Big 12.
This marks BYU’s debut on Big Monday since joining the Big 12. ESPN features one ACC contest and one Big 12 clash as part of the doubleheader. BYU-Arizona will serve as the nightcap, following Louisville-Duke.
The lone drawback for BYU with a Big Monday contest is the quick turnaround after a Saturday game. Because BYU avoids Sunday play, their prep time is shortened. Still, coaches and players will review film Sunday, then hold a walkthrough Monday, so the effect should be minimal. Arizona faces Sunday travel, which balances out BYU’s lack of court work that day. Kevin Young is also familiar with limited practice windows from his NBA background, so the Saturday-to-Monday gap isn’t a concern. The real benefit is the prime ESPN spotlight of Big Monday.
The Big 12 is expected to announce dates for league matchups soon, potentially this week. BYU’s conference pairings were revealed earlier in June.
