Lions wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown and Commanders defensive tackle Javon Kinlaw were both hit with fines for incidents that took place during Week 10’s matchup between Detroit and Washington, even though neither player was tossed from the game.
The confrontation began when Commanders lineman Daron Payne threw a punch at St. Brown — an act that led to Payne’s ejection. After the game, Kinlaw claimed that St. Brown had actually started things by striking Payne on the previous snap, and game footage supported Kinlaw’s version of events. As a result, the NFL fined St. Brown $12,172.
Payne’s ejection occurred right after a Detroit touchdown, and moments later Kinlaw drew a penalty for contacting an official during the extra-point attempt. According to a source who spoke with PFT, the officiating crew was reluctant to eject players on consecutive plays, but the league later issued Kinlaw a fine of $28,555. Additionally, Commanders linebacker Ale Kaho was fined $46,371 for an illegal use-of-helmet violation.
