Court documents show that Jaden Rashada, the former quarterback for Florida, has reached a secret agreement in his NIL case against Billy Napier, the former Gators coach, and a well-known supporter of the University of Florida.
According to On3, the agreement’s conditions were kept private. A mediation meeting that ended in an agreement was held on February 10, according to court documents.
One of the first notable legal disputes involving NIL in the new compensation era of intercollegiate sports was the case that Rashada filed in May 2024. The lawsuit named Napier, former Florida employee Marcus Castro-Walker, supporter Heath Hathcock, and Velocity Automotive, Hathcock’s prior business.
The conflict reportedly centered around a four-year, $13. 85 million contract connected to the NIL collective in Florida. The lawsuit alleges that Velocity Automotive was supposed to contribute to the package that swayed Rashada’s choice to switch his commitment from Miami to Florida in November 2022. He later signed with the Gators, but he was eventually freed from his National Letter of Intent after claiming that the deal had not been upheld.
On a number of fraud-related claims, U. S. District Judge M. Casey Rodgers decided in April 2025 that the case would proceed to discovery.
Before signing with Mississippi State this offseason, Rashada attended Arizona State, then Georgia, then Sacramento State. After being fired by Florida during the 2025 season, Napier is getting ready for his first year as head coach at James Madison.
