The Detroit Lions continue to thrive with one of the NFL’s most prolific offenses, but it has not muted the external controversy surrounding their quarterback.

Tyler Conklin, the new tight end, emphasized this week that he is not here for that story.

Conklin doesn’t hold back.

Conklin appeared on “Crunch Time Sports” and immediately defended his new quarterback in a way that felt real rather than practiced.

“Jared Goff is among the finest quarterbacks in the National Football League. I’ve always defended him, even behind the scenes. Conklin told Lions OnSI that “just because he doesn’t get it, he receives way too much criticism. “

That was not a one-time remark. He doubled down by emphasizing the larger picture and the production that is still being overlooked.

“I felt the same way about Justin Herbert. But Jared Goff, I believe the statistics speak for themselves, given the way the Lions’ offense has performed and everything else.

The Social Media Factor

Conklin also addressed something that players throughout the league have long known: the influence of social media on public opinion.

“That’s sort of a problem with social media nowadays,” Conklin remarked, “Everybody has their own view, whether it’s a good one or not. ” Whatever. You are allowed to have an opinion. ”

It is a straightforward conclusion that explains a great deal. In a world where every game is dissected virtually quickly, stability is sometimes overlooked.

The statistics support it.

Goff has plenty to stand on when the debate revolves around production.

In 2025, he passed for 4,564 yards and 34 touchdowns while completing 68% of his attempts. That degree of efficiency contributed to Detroit’s attack becoming one of the league’s most potent.

Those are not meaningless figures. They’ve resulted in victories, postseason significance, and a squad that wants to contend every year.

There is no argument inside the building.
While the public discussion continues, the message within Detroit is unmistakable.

The Lions trust Goff. Teammates openly support him. And players like as Conklin are stepping up to say what many in the group already believe.

Bottom Line

Jared Goff continues to produce. The Lions continue to win.

And, as Tyler Conklin emphasized, the criticism will not affect what happens on the field.
