On Wednesday, Kaden Magwood, a freshman guard for the Auburn Tigers, announced that he will be entering the transfer portal after only one season with the squad. This information follows the Tigers’ NIT victory, as well as reports that some Tigers want to stay or transfer.
Magwood, a four-star prospect in the 2025 class, averaged only 10. 6 minutes per game in his only year with the Tigers, the majority of which came during the NIT. Magwood averaged 3. 6 points and 1. 8 assists in 10 minutes each game.
Magwood committed to Auburn in November 2024, selecting the Tigers over his other top options of NC State and Ole Miss. Now, those institutions are among the programs to watch for Magwood’s next squad, together with Louisville, where he originated.
This revelation follows another significant Tiger transfer, forward Filip Jović. Jovic was a vital element of Auburn’s backcourt this year, but he revealed just a few days ago that he intends to transfer, and some reports say he is seeking a $2 million contract with his next program.
Without Magwood and Jović, both freshmen in 2026, the Tigers’ basketball roster now looks doubtful. At the moment, the Tigers are expected to keep Sebastian Williams-Adams, another huge freshman, however he has yet to fully commit to staying on the Plains.

The Tigers also have a strong guy to replace Jović, if necessary, in Narcisse Ngoy, a former French professional who committed to Auburn just over a week ago.
The Tigers’ roster for next year is still unknown, since important players like Tahaad Pettiford and Williams-Adams have not yet determined their intentions. Regardless of their decision, the squad will most likely be Magwood-less.
