UCLA football switched to Bob Chesney in an effort to revitalize the Bruins. Now he has scored a major college football recruiting victory, which will undoubtedly attract the attention of Ohio State. The most recent commitment is four-star tight end Zac Fares.
Fares gives Chesney a prospective 6-foot-5, 225-pound target. The Las Vegas talent announced his decision with Hayes Fawcett of On3/Rivals on Saturday.
However, Fares attracts the attention of Buckeye supporters for the following reason: OSU was in consideration for Arbor View. High aptitude.
“I’m really excited to be a Bruin, I enjoy the direction the program is going,” Fares said to Greg Biggins in his chat with On3/Rivals. “UCLA is a great all around fit and a great spot for me. “
Fares selected the Bruins in part because of their closeness.
“They’re near to home, which is an extra bonus, but it’s more about the fit in the system and my connection with the coaches,” Fares remarked. “I was the first tight end coach (Drew Canan) offered when he arrived at UCLA, which meant a lot to me. “
Texas was on his recruiting radar before making it onto his short list. He had planned to visit Austin as well.
Cal made his recruiting visit schedule. The Golden Bears signed four-star TE Charles Davis on Friday, from Westlake High in California’s Ventura County.
Now UCLA has landed one of the top Sin City talents for the 2027 class, as well as a potential Nico Iamaleava target if the quarterback plays beyond 2026 in Westwood.
