Over the last couple of seasons, Joey McGuire and his Texas Tech coaching staff have done an outstanding job of going out and gathering recruits for the Red Raiders. To put it plainly, Lubbock already has a lot of skill in place (and it should not be surprising that the future recruiting class includes a lot more).

Right now, as we prepare for the start of the next college football season (which we still have to wait a few months for), we can examine how things are shaping up for Texas Tech on the recruiting front.

And I’m sure you’ll be surprised to hear that the Red Raiders currently have the Big 12’s most talent-rich class.

On3 and Rival recently released their lists of the best committed recruits heading to the Big 12, and the Red Raiders own them all. Eight of the top ten prospects who have already committed to playing in the league want to play for McGuire and the Red Raiders.

Eight of the Big 12’s top recruits for 2027 are now committed to the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

That includes Jalen Brewster on the defensive line, Benny Easter Jr. at wide receiver, Jhadyn Nelson at linebacker, Anthony Sweeney on the edge, Julian Caldwell at wide receiver, Kavian Bryant at quarterback, K’Adrian Redmond on the defensive line, and Sarod Baker as a running back.

Rivals and On3 currently rank Brewster as a five-star prospect. Easter, Nelson, Sweeney, Caldwell, Bryant, Redmond, and Baker are all four-star prospects. As a result, the Red Raiders will have an enormous quantity of skill in the 2027 class. It’s important to note that only the Houston Cougars and Colorado Buffaloes made the list alongside the Red Raiders.

Raiden Cook, a defensive lineman, is presently committed to UH, while Andre Adams, a quarterback, is committed to Colorado.

With such a depth of talent, Texas Tech has a lot of momentum moving forward. With Cody Campbell assisting to boost the NIL efforts and serving as Chairman of the Texas Tech System Board of Regents, the Red Raider football program will receive substantial support in the near future.

And, with McGuire leading the Texas Tech football program as a CEO who has coordinated a consistent development by making strategic appointments of excellent coordinators to help innovate and improve on what the Red Raiders are capable of, this is unlikely to be a one-time occurrence. Texas Tech appears to be really committed to creating something sustainable.
