Andrew Wiggins from the Miami Heat is one interesting possibility, according to BasketNews’ Orazio Cauchi, who presented a trade in February before the trade deadline.
The Lakers may try to negotiate a Wiggins transaction this summer.

Wiggins, 31, is a seasoned veteran in the league who offers the adaptable wing addition that the Lakers need. If the Heat need financial flexibility, as they are reportedly pursuing a big move for Giannis Antetokounmpo, a deal may emerge.
Lakers’ Pursuit of Wiggins: Good or Bad?
Wiggins signed the Heat ahead of the 2025 trade deadline and played his first complete season for the team this year. He is in the final year of a four-year contract he signed with the Golden State Warriors in 2022. He does, however, have a player option for 2026-27.
Wiggins would become an unrestricted free agent next summer if he chooses not to return. The Heat do not want to lose him for free. His championship experience and two-way potential make him appealing to contenders like the Lakers.
For the Lakers to acquire Wiggins, they would most certainly offer expiring or movable contracts to aid Miami in rebuilding its roster. Cauchi proposed a possible trade structure that would work. However, since Gabe Vincent is no longer a Laker, the Lakers’ probable offer Rui Hachimura, Dalton Knecht, and a 2032 second-round draft pick are the Heat.
Hachimura will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason. As a result, the Lakers would have to re-sign him before including him in any deal. Knecht, a young guard with unrealized potential, may interest Miami.
This move would give the Heat some decent players if they decided to pursue Antetokounmpo.
Why the Lakers Should Trade for Wiggins
Wiggins, who stands 6’7″, will provide much-needed height to the wings. LeBron James is on the Lakers, but he will also become a free agent this summer. Even if the Lakers can persuade James to stay, he is 41 years old and has limited alternatives.
Wiggins will represent a low-risk, high-reward acquisition for a Lakers club aiming for contention. He has a postseason and championship background, most notably with the Warriors in 2022.
Salary-wise, it’s a win for the Lakers because they don’t have to go overboard to sign Wiggins. Moving Knecht and Hachimura might free up all the salary cap money they need.
Wiggins appeared in 68 regular-season games for Miami this season. He averaged 15. 4 points, 4. 8 rebounds, and 2. 7 assists, which is good given that he trails Tyler Herro and Bam Adebayo as the Heat’s primary usage players.
