Skubal is arguably the ideal goal if the Braves want to make an all-out effort in 2026. However, there are considerable risks. Skubal will be a free agent following the season, and Atlanta has traditionally been wary of sacrificing too much of its future for short-term fixes.
Skubal’s requesting price may be higher than the Braves are ready to pay. It may not be worthwhile to trade top prospects for only a few months of control. On the other hand, if the relocation helps Atlanta win another World Series, it may be a gamble worth taking in the long run.
