The Detroit Lions continue to reshape their roster as they prepare for training camp under offensive coordinator Drew Petzing. In an effort to strengthen their receiving corps, Detroit recently signed three standout wide receivers from the United Football League (UFL): Tarik Black, Lucky Jackson, and Tay Martin.
General manager Brad Holmes is exploring additional options at wide receiver after the team lost rookie Kendrick Law to a season-ending ACL injury. While the Lions are adding new talent to the offense, they are also moving on from another player at the position.
Lions Waive Wide Receiver Kyre Duplessis
According to the NFL transaction wire, the Detroit Lions have waived wide receiver Kyre Duplessis, creating an open roster spot ahead of training camp.
Lions reporter Mike Payton confirmed the move on social media, noting that the team now sits at 90 players and still has one roster vacancy to fill before camp begins.
Duplessis entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent after spending four seasons at Coastal Carolina before transferring to Delaware. During his collegiate career, he recorded 60 receptions for 824 receiving yards and five touchdowns, showcasing his potential as a playmaker.
Detroit Adds Three UFL Receivers
The roster move comes shortly after the Lions signed UFL wide receivers Tarik Black, Lucky Jackson, and Tay Martin.
Black and Jackson arrive in Detroit following a championship-winning season in the UFL, while Martin earned recognition for his performances with the Columbus Aviators.
The Lions hope the trio can provide additional competition and depth at wide receiver as they head into the 2026 season.
With training camp approaching, Detroit’s front office continues to evaluate talent and make strategic roster adjustments aimed at improving the offense and supporting quarterback Jared Goff.
