Coventry City striker Norman Bassette is attracting fresh interest from Belgium, with KVC Westerlo reportedly opening talks with the Sky Blues over a potential move this summer.

The 21-year-old Belgian forward is currently back at Coventry City and has featured in the club’s opening two pre-season fixtures after spending last season on loan.

Bassette fell out of favour under manager Frank Lampard during the 2024/25 campaign, his first season after signing a four-year contract with the Sky Blues. He was subsequently sent out on loan to French second-tier side Reims, although the deal was cut short midway through the season before he joined German Bundesliga 2 club Kaiserslautern.

The Belgian international has already been linked with a move to Standard Liege this summer, with reports claiming that the club have made an offer for his services.

However, Standard Liege are not the only Belgian club interested in Bassette. According to Belgian transfer specialist Sacha Tavolieri, KVC Westerlo have now entered negotiations with Coventry City over a possible deal.

Tavolieri reported that Westerlo are pushing to sign Bassette on loan with an option to buy, adding that the striker is interested in the Belgian club’s project.

Bassette featured for 45 minutes in Coventry City’s opening pre-season match, a 3-2 defeat to AFC Wimbledon in Spain. He was then introduced as a second-half substitute during the Sky Blues’ goalless draw against Northampton Town at Sixfields.

With Coventry City now preparing for life back in the Premier League, Bassette’s future at the club remains uncertain. The growing interest from Belgian clubs could pave the way for the striker to leave the CBS Arena this summer, particularly if he remains outside Lampard’s plans for the upcoming campaign.
