Ipswich Town will continue their preparations for the 2026-27 Premier League season when they face Spanish side Osasuna in a pre-season friendly on Wednesday.

The Tractor Boys are preparing for their return to the Premier League after finishing second in the Championship last season. Gary O’Neil’s side will begin their top-flight campaign at home against Sunderland on August 22, but they still have a busy pre-season schedule ahead of them.

Ipswich Town vs Osasuna Match Preview

Ipswich Town recently completed their pre-season training camp in La Manga with a goalless draw against Spanish club FC Cartagena.

The Tractor Boys will now look to step up their preparations as they face Osasuna before taking on Oxford United, Wycombe Wanderers, Le Havre, Rayo Vallecano and Union Berlin in their remaining pre-season fixtures.

Ipswich have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market this summer, bringing in seven new players. Their new arrivals include Emersson, Abdul Fatawu, Issa Diop and Daizen Maeda.

O’Neil has also overseen several departures, with five players leaving the club, while experienced defender Ashley Young has retired. As a result, Ipswich are expected to have a significantly different-looking squad when they return to the Premier League.

Osasuna, meanwhile, began their preparations for the 2026-27 La Liga season with a 2-0 victory over Racing Santander on July 24.

The Spanish side are now under the management of Luis Miguel Ramis and will face Norwich City, Napoli and Al-Ain in their remaining pre-season matches before opening their La Liga campaign away to Celta Vigo on August 16.

Osasuna endured a disappointing 2025-26 campaign, narrowly avoiding relegation after finishing level on points with 18th-placed Mallorca.

Ramis’ side have made just one signing so far this summer, bringing in Jonathan Dubasin from Sporting Gijon. They have also seen four first-team players leave the club, including Victor Munoz, who completed a major move to Premier League side Liverpool.

Ipswich Town vs Osasuna Team News

Ipswich Town are expected to be without new signings Issa Diop, Abdul Fatawu and Daizen Maeda, who remain unavailable due to their involvement in the 2026 World Cup.

New goalkeeper Kayne van Oevelen could make another appearance between the posts, while Emersson may be handed a starting role after coming off the bench against Cartagena.

Dara O’Shea, Ali Al-Hamadi and Anis Mehmeti could also be brought into the starting XI as Gary O’Neil continues to assess his squad ahead of the new Premier League season.

For Osasuna, new signing Jonathan Dubasin is expected to feature on the right side of the attack.

However, experienced striker Ante Budimir is unlikely to play after representing Croatia at the 2026 World Cup. The 35-year-old made three appearances at the tournament and scored once.

Raul Garcia could lead the line in Budimir’s absence, while Raul Moro is expected to operate on the left wing.

Ipswich Town Possible Starting Lineup

Van Oevelen; Furlong, Kipre, O’Shea, Johnson; Turner, Barbrook; Al-Hamadi, Mehmeti, Ogbene; Emersson

Osasuna Possible Starting Lineup

Herrera; Rosier, Boyomo, Catena, Bretones; Moncayola, Torro, M. Gomez; Dubasin, Raul Garcia, Moro

Ipswich Town vs Osasuna Prediction

This should be a competitive pre-season encounter, with both managers likely to use the match to assess their squads and build fitness ahead of the new campaign.

Ipswich Town will face a strong test against an experienced Osasuna side, but the Tractor Boys appear to have enough quality to edge what could be a closely fought contest.

Prediction: Ipswich Town 2-1 Osasuna
