It was recently revealed that Toronto Blue Jays starter Jose Berrios may need elbow surgery. Hazel Mae stated on Saturday that Berrios will need surgery. However, it is uncertain if he will pitch again this season.

“Jose Berrios to undergo surgery Wednesday performed by Dr. Meister,” Mae reported. “Repair existing injury (stress fracture on elbow). There are some doubts about ligaments; they will decide whether he is finished for the season or requires repair.

It is unknown whether Berrios will have to miss the whole 2026 season. Berrios is still sidelined due to injury and has not pitched in 2026.

The Blue Jays will continue to monitor and update on Jose Berrios’ injury situation as information becomes available.

In 2025, the right-handed pitcher recorded a 4. 17 ERA in 31 appearances. In 2024, he had a 3. 60 ERA. Berrios is a strong pitcher, and the Blue Jays definitely hope he can pitch at some point during the 2026 MLB season.
