The Boston Bruins are now behind 3-1 in their Stanley Cup Playoffs series with the Buffalo Sabres. Game 4 was an uncomfortable performance for the Bruins, who lost 6-1 to the Sabres after falling behind 4-0 in the first quarter.
Nikita Zadorov cross-checked Rasmus Dahlin as the Bruins’ frustration grew during the game. Now, he is awaiting his penalty from NHL Player Safety.
“Boston’s Nikita Zadorov has been fined $5,000, the greatest amount permitted under the CBA, for cross-checking Buffalo’s Rasmus Dahlin,” the NHL Player Safety announced on X, formerly Twitter.
The Sabres scored three goals in the first ten minutes of the game, with goals from Peyton Krebs, Josh Doan, and Zach Benson. Bowen Byram scored another goal for them in the period. Following a goalless second period, Beck Malenstyn and Alex Tuch both scored in the early minutes of the third.
With less than four minutes remaining in the game following a break, Zadorov approached Dahlin and cross-checked him. He received a five-minute cross-checking penalty as well as a game misconduct, leaving the Bruins without a player for the rest of the game. Sean Kuraly was able to score a short-handed goal, but the game was already well in hand, as Buffalo won 6-1.
The Sabres will attempt to close out the series on home ice. The squad hasn’t won a playoff series since 2007, when they advanced to the Eastern Conference Finals before losing in five games to the Ottawa Senators. Game 5 will take place on Tuesday evening, with the puck dropping at 7:30 p. m. ET.
