LSU and Ole Miss recently clashed in an entertaining game. Kim Mulkey and Yolett McPhee-McCuin’s teams had an intense finish. The LSU Tigers had a lead in the first quarter, but the Ole Miss Rebels made a comeback and dominated the proceedings with 22-11 and 20-17 leads in the second and third quarters, respectively. However, that dominance didn’t last long.

LSU bounced back in the fourth quarter with a 24-7 lead, and eventually won the game 78-70. It was an underwhelming finish for coach Yo’s team. Ole Miss’ Cotie McMahon led the proceedings with 25 points, while Christeen Iwuala and Latasha Lattimore chipped in with 13 and 12 points, respectively. However, it wasn’t enough.

Flau’jae Johnson scored 18 points with 5 rebounds and 3 assists, but the rest of the starting five were not that impressive. It was still a complete performance. MiLaysia Fulwiley grabbed the game by the neck and scored 26 points in 24 minutes off the bench. She also had 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. With all the attention on Fulwiley, another incident during the game caught everyone’s eye.

LSU’s Grace Knox aggressively blocked an Ole Miss player’s lay-up and had an overly aggressive reaction. She got a technical foul and a lot of criticism. After that reaction, Knox also had an exchange with the Ole Miss student, where she abused the student section and shouted things like, “fck off” and “fck you guys.” However, Knox realised what she did was wrong and apologised publicly, which really impressed Ole Miss HC.

“I know I can get kinda in the moment, I realize that that hurt the team, that didn’t really look that well for LSU, just as a school. So, I did apologise to my teammates. I apologised to the coaches. ‘Cause that was never my intention to have shot anybody down, or just be seen as that type of person,” Grace Knox apologized.

“This is high level! She was extremely respectful in the handshake line, and we took none of it personally after the play. Let’s move on! These are young people, ladies & gentlemen,” coach Yo said.
