After a leaked tape surfaced that contained a number of accusations against Jerry Jones, the longtime owner of the Dallas Cowboys, the legendary Keyshawn Johnson stood up for Jones.
It is simply absurd. You begin discussing how Jerry Jones genuinely has no affinity for Black people. Man, please just stop. I am unable to answer that since I was not mistreated and I never felt that he or his family posed a serious threat to me. He claimed Jerry Jones was a racist and that his players were ignorant and homophobic. Roger Goodell is a puppet, fans are drinkers, and the league’s social justice efforts are theatrical.
Rael Enteen, the Washington Commanders’ former vice president of content, was sacked earlier this week after a video including numerous derogatory remarks regarding Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, NFL players, and fans surfaced. Enteen was with an undercover reporter when he mistakenly believed he was out on a date.
Jared Dubin of CBS Sports reports that Enteen is the one who published the following comments from the leaked video.
Our list comprises more than 50% pious white people who believe that God has told them to “f— the gays.” I do not believe a word of that, Enteen was audibly saying. Low-income African Americans who come from a community that is fundamentally homophobic make up another sizable portion.
Upon being questioned over the video, Jones promptly refuted all of the allegations made by Yahoo Sports.
“I rejected it right away. did not give it a second thought,” Jones claimed. Really? I did not give it any more attention because it is so incorrect and out of context. And it is absurd, so I hope nobody does.
The Commanders fired Enteen shortly after the video was made public, saying in a brief statement that the language in the video “runs counter to our values at the Commanders organization.” We will not be commenting further at this time and have suspended the employee while we conduct an inquiry.
In 2005–2006, Johnson spent his last two seasons as a player with the Cowboys. In 2003, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers won the Super Bowl, marking the culmination of his career that included over 10,000 receiving yards and 64 touchdowns.
Jerry Jones and the Cowboys face larger issues ahead.
Winning games is the only thing that can divert the media’s attention from the lengthy Cowboys offseason. The focus has been on this deal, that contract, this decision, and that throughout the entire summer. There are contracts expiring for Mike McCarthy and Dak Prescott. On August 26, CeeDee Lamb ultimately signed a four-year, $136 million contract to wrap up his negotiations.
According to what Prescott told ESPN lately, both parties are trying to finalize an agreement.
“They seem to be effective,” stated Prescott. “I am not sure if finishing it over the weekend is really the deadline.” I am unable to threaten Todd and Stephen with a deadline if we fail to complete this task. But they are undoubtedly effective.
It is difficult to see the Cowboys overcoming all the media pressure if important players like Prescott and Mike McCarthy do not have any assurances about their jobs.
As the Cowboys travel to play the Cleveland Browns in Week 1 on Sunday, September 8 at 4:25 p.m. EST, a victory will help relieve some of the burden.
