On Thursday night, the Dallas Cowboys managed to win by a slim margin, but it cost them dearly. Both DeMarcus Lawrence and Micah Parsons, the team’s two best defensive ends, are injured and unlikely to return for some time.

The Dallas Cowboys Receive Horrific News About Star Injuries

We now know that Mican might miss a few games, according to Matt Lombardo of Gridiron:

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports that Parsons will not be able to play for at least seven to ten days until his status is reevaluated and a comeback date is determined.

Lawrence’s situation is significantly worse because he will likely be put on injured reserve and will be out for at least four weeks. Dallas, who has not exactly had a terrific season defensively, will be devastated by this. They may lose both of these studs for up to two games, if not longer.

They will also be playing seven consecutive winning teams in a row, which will make this the hardest stretch of any NFL team’s schedule. Dallas’ injuries have left them in ruins, and they are very  Dallas is apparently trying to add some aid at that position before their next game in week five, as they will be without their best edge rushers and defenders for a while. Given that they also lost Sam Williams to an ACL tear early in training camp, they are quite thin at the defensive end. The team is set to go on a very difficult schedule, and it does not appear as though they will survive.

The group is currently looking desperately for additional assistance. The Cowboys are looking into “external options” to fix their disarrayed defensive line, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler:

With Micah Parsons (high left ankle sprain) and DeMarcus Lawrence (right midfoot sprain) sidelined, the Cowboys are considering outside alternatives at pass rusher, but they will begin with players on staff. They are hoping Parsons will return as soon as possible,” stated Fowler.

He will be working hard to return before the Week 7 bye, according to a source who described him as “week-to-week.” Although Lawrence’s absence is more flexible, the season will not end because of it. For rookie Marshawn Kneeland, who the Cowboys have great expectations for, this is a significant test. The problem is that there is not much talent at that position, and for those who believe they can trade for Hasson Reddick—a fantasy that Cowboys supporters can never fulfill—that is the problem. They will be playing a critical stretch of games, so it will be interesting to watch what moves, if any, they can make.
