Breece Hall, who ran a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine, would provide the Cowboys with a dynamic threat. The Jets, under new management, may be looking to move on from Hall before he reaches free agency if they don’t plan to re-sign him or want to take a more cost-effective approach at the running back position. Hall’s contract situation makes him a more attractive trade target.
In 2024, Hall rushed for 876 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught 57 passes for 483 yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his versatility as a dual-threat back. His production would significantly boost the Cowboys’ ground game and provide more support in the passing game, taking some of the pressure off star receiver CeeDee Lamb.
Hall’s 2024 performance was especially impressive given the turmoil the Jets have faced on offense in recent seasons. Despite the lack of stability around him, Hall has managed to accumulate 2,333 rushing yards and 14 touchdowns over his first three seasons. His ability to stay healthy, playing 16 games in 2024 after an injury-shortened 2022, makes him an attractive and reliable option for the Cowboys.
The Jets are unlikely to demand a high price for Hall, considering his expiring contract. Given that the Cowboys could be in the market for a starting running back, acquiring Hall via trade might be a sensible move to avoid the uncertainty of needing to fill the position through the draft.
