On Tuesday, the Detroit Lions signed wide receiver Tim Patrick to their 53-man roster and placed two players on injured reserve. After being promoted from the practice squad this season, Patrick has participated in the last two Lions games and is now formally a member of the squad. Defensive end Marcus Davenport and linebacker Derrick Barnes were also placed on injured reserve by Detroit.
Davenport’s departure was anticipated as the head coach revealed on Monday that the defensive end tore his tricep tear against the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, terminating his season. Davenport has logged four quarterback hits and a half-sack in two games. He sustained a groin injury that kept him out of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers game in Week 2. Barnes had a knee injury on Sunday, and it is unclear when he would be able to play again.
On that, we are still obtaining second thoughts. As of right now, all we know is that he will be out for a short spell,” Campbell said reporters on Monday. “We are aware of that. After that, all that remains to be determined is how long these opinions will continue to surface.” Barnes has made 10 total tackles this season and has intercepted one pass in three contests.
