Detroit Lions fans made their presence known on Monday night at Levi’s Stadium during the team’s Week 17 matchup against the San Francisco 49ers. After the 40–34 victory, which improved the Lions’ record to 14–2, fans enthusiastically showed their support for quarterback Jared Goff. While 49ers fans began to leave the stadium following the game, Lions supporters stayed in their seats and even moved closer to the field. A loud “Jared Goff” chant echoed through the stadium as Detroit’s faithful celebrated the win.
Goff had an outstanding performance in the road victory, passing for 303 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions. This marks the fourth consecutive week he has avoided throwing an interception, and he has now thrown 14 touchdowns in that stretch. The passionate fan base made sure to express their gratitude for him after the Lions set a franchise record with their 14th win of the season.
With a win over the Minnesota Vikings in their final game of the regular season in Week 18, Goff and the Lions can secure the top spot in both the NFC North and the NFC overall. If Goff continues his stellar play, they will be a tough team to beat.
