After the Detroit Lions were eliminated from the playoffs by the Washington Commanders in the divisional round, rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels had a memorable gesture for one of the losing players. In the NFL, it’s customary for players to exchange jerseys with teammates or opponents they share a connection with, sometimes even writing personal notes. In this case, Daniels had a special message for Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold. According to the KickinItWithDee podcast, Arnold shared that after the game, Daniels wrote a playful note on the bottom of his jersey during their swap. Daniels wrote, “Cancun on three! One, two, three,” before exchanging jerseys.

Arnold, who spent three years at Alabama, had crossed paths with Daniels in college, as the Commanders’ QB played in the SEC for his final two seasons. Over those years, Daniels and Arnold faced off twice, with each player’s team winning one of the matchups.
