After the Washington Commanders pulled off a shocking 45-31 win over the Detroit Lions in the divisional round of the 2024 NFL Playoffs, rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels wasted no time trolling Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold. Daniels, who played an outstanding game with 299 passing yards, two touchdowns, and 51 rushing yards, helped the Commanders eliminate what many considered the top team in the league, securing their spot in the NFC Championship Game.
Known for his calm demeanor on and off the field, Daniels surprised many when he took a playful jab at Arnold after the game. During a jersey swap between the two rookies, Daniels took the opportunity to write a cheeky six-word message on the bottom of Arnold’s jersey: “Cancun on three. One, two, three.” This playful line, referencing the Lions’ early exit from the playoffs, was shared by YouTuber Deestroying on his podcast “Kickin’ It With Dee.”
Although Daniels and Arnold are close friends, the message stung with its brutal reminder that Detroit’s season was over and they were heading on vacation. Despite the lighthearted trolling, the Commanders are now focused on their next challenge—the NFC Championship Game against the Eagles, with the winner advancing to Super Bowl 59.
