Former Detroit Lions quarterback David Blough has been prevented from interviewing for a spot on Aaron Glenn’s coaching staff with the New York Jets, as reported by Tom Pelissero. Blough, who previously served as a backup quarterback for the Lions, was expected to explore the opportunity with Glenn, who now leads the Jets. However, the Washington Commanders, where Blough currently works as the assistant quarterbacks coach, decided to retain him, blocking his pursuit of the role with the Jets.

Blough, praised for his football intelligence, has gained recognition as a potential coaching talent. His experience with the Lions, coupled with his current role in Washington, has made him a strong candidate for a future in coaching.

Meanwhile, the Jets are expected to hire Charles London as their new quarterbacks coach. London, 50, brings extensive coaching experience, having previously held the same position with the Seattle Seahawks. Though Blough won’t be joining Glenn’s staff, his prospects in coaching remain bright, and he’s still considered a rising figure in the field.
