Mike Green, a highly regarded EDGE prospect out of Marshall, has been a frequent target in Detroit Lions 2025 NFL mock drafts. However, during his media appearance at the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine, he addressed past allegations of sexual assault. Green denied any involvement, stating, “There’s accusations out there, but I’ve never been questioned or asked about the situation before I left Virginia. It was just rumors that led to my departure.”

Green was dismissed from the University of Virginia in 2022, which prompted his transfer to Marshall. He clarified, “I hold no resentment toward the University of Virginia. I could have stayed, but after my suspension, I sought a fresh start. I wanted a place where I could establish myself, which led me to enter the transfer portal and choose Marshall.”

Despite Green’s firm stance on his innocence, NFL teams, including the Detroit Lions, who met with him at the Combine, will undoubtedly conduct thorough investigations before considering him for the draft.

In terms of his draft prospects, Green has been gaining momentum and is now projected to be selected in the top 15 picks. If the Lions are keen on securing him, they may need to trade up. However, with the 2025 NFL Draft still a couple of months away, the situation remains fluid, and circumstances could evolve.
