With the NFL Draft just over a week away, the Detroit Lions’ most pressing need remains unchanged since the start of free agency: securing a reliable second starting edge rusher. Although most free agent options have already been scooped up, a few potential targets are still available, including veteran edge rusher Emmanuel Ogbah. Ogbah, who has spent the past five seasons with the Miami Dolphins, was highlighted by Mark Stolte of Pro Football and Sports Network as a top player the Lions should pursue.

Ogbah stands out as an excellent fit for the Lions’ defense. While Marcus Davenport is a risky option due to his injury history, Ogbah has consistently performed throughout his career, recording at least five sacks in six of his nine NFL seasons. In 2024, he registered six sacks and 33 total pressures for the Dolphins, while also demonstrating strong run defense. Pro Football Focus ranked Ogbah 28th among edge rushers for his 26 tackles. Given that he only cost the Dolphins $3.25 million in 2024, Ogbah would likely come at a reasonable price for the Lions. Signing him would provide the team with a dependable option on the edge, offering stability until a long-term solution is ready to step in. Ogbah remains a strong candidate for the Lions to consider as a late addition to their roster.
