Easton Royal, a five-star wide receiver from New Orleans, La. , is now on an unofficial visit with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers as the program steps up its efforts to flip the top-ranked pass-catcher.

Royal, the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2027 recruiting cycle, announced his commitment to the Texas Longhorns in November, with Steve Sarkisian and Co. winning the sweepstakes.

However, fewer than 24 hours after Royal committed to Texas, Kiffin was appointed as the new shot-caller in Baton Rouge, with LSU immediately increasing pressure on the outstanding pass-catcher.

All day at school, all of my pals are pressing me to switch to the LSU Tigers, Royal told Fox 8 New Orleans. You only get one opportunity to complete this procedure, so I’m dedicated to Texas, but I’m still attempting to determine if it’s the best choice for me.

The ultimate objective is to make the best decision possible for me and my family.

Me and Coach Lane [Kiffin] are developing a bond. He communicates with me frequently, asking me to have a good week, providing me with movies, encouraging me, and attempting to persuade me to join the LSU Tigers.

The 5-foot-11, 200-pounder has several SEC institutions interested in his services, with the Florida Gators and Tennessee Volunteers attempting to change him – in addition to LSU.

Royal arrived in Baton Rouge on Wednesday for a several-day visit with the LSU Tigers coaching team, where he made his first social media post while in town:

The No. 1 wide receiver in America embraced Kiffin’s LSU slogan, “Just Different,” despite strenuous attempts from his hometown program.

Royal is coming off a productive junior year in which he had 53 receptions for 1,151 yards and 17 touchdowns, with his track speed fully on display. He thrives in this area, having completed the 100-meter dash in 10. 3 seconds last season.

Now, as LSU increases its pursuit, Kiffin and Co. are pushing for the elite wide receiver committed to the Texas Longhorns, amid a full-court press for his services in the 2027 recruiting cycle.
