On April 24, Christian Reeves, a 255-pound, 7-foot-2 center, declared his intention to move from the College of Charleston to Kansas. He has since signed a financial help agreement with KU (Shop KU), as was revealed by Bill Self, the men’s basketball coach, on Friday.
Before joining the College of Charleston for the 2025–26 season, Reeves, a Charlotte, North Carolina native and soon-to-be senior, played two seasons at Duke and one at Clemson.
On Friday, Self stated, “I think that Christian will have an immediate impact for us. ” “He really didn’t have a lot of chances to play until College of Charleston, and what was so amazing is that he averaged over 11 points and eight rebounds per game throughout the season, even with a sore shoulder.
“Because he’s had so many injuries, including two operations on his ankle at Duke, and for the first time in his college career we can see the potential because it’s the first time he’s really been able to play, it’s thrilling. ”
Reeves earned third team all-conference honors while averaging 21. 4 minutes, 11. 1 points, and a team-high 7. 8 rebounds in 18 of his 31 games at College of Charleston. He was ranked fifth in the Coastal Athletic Association with 7. 8 rebounds each game.
He was third in the league with eight double-doubles and second in the CAA with 1. 42 blocked shots per game. With 29 points and 18 rebounds, Reeves had his career best performance against Elon.
Reeves started his collegiate career at Duke, where he played for two seasons in 2022–2023 and 2023–2024. At Clemson, during the 2024–25 campaign, he participated in 29 contests, including one start.
Reeves was ranked the fifth-best player from the state of North Carolina by ESPN100 when he graduated from Mouth of Wilson, Virginia’s Oak Hill Academy.
Reeves is the third transfer to sign with KU for the 2025–26 campaign. The first two were Leroy Blyden Jr. , previously of Toledo, and Keanu Dawes, previously of Utah.
Reeves will probably have to compete with Paul Mbiya, a 7-footer who is back, for playing time at center next season. The Jayhawks also recruited Grant Mordini, a 6-11 center from Avon Old Farms School in Connecticut, on Thursday.
Eleven players are on scholarship at KU. In accordance with NCAA regulations, teams are permitted to have fifteen scholarship athletes.
