After defeating Jacksonville 116-58 in the first round of March Madness, the LSU Tigers will advance to the second round to face Texas Tech. This game might be make-or-break for the Tigers, since its outcome will decide if they can progress to the NCAA Tournament’s Sweet 16. And for this, they need the greatest of luck and goodwill.

Lane Kiffin, the newly named head coach, is already feeling the excitement for the forthcoming game. On X, he congratulated the Tigers’ star Flau’jae Johnson by posting her uniform and shoes. In the caption to the message, Kiffin passionately stated: GameDay!!!

He posted another shot on X of Flau’jae posing with what seems to be Kiffin’s nephew. Kiffin looks to be more thrilled than anybody else for Johnson and the team to keep up their outstanding play since their first-round triumph against Jacksonville.

On November 30, 2025, Kiffin was formally unveiled as LSU’s head football coach. Following an 11-1 season at Ole Miss, he inked a seven-year, $13 million-per-year contract with the Tigers. LSU intends to actively rebuild the program with aggressive NIL efforts and the recruitment of important personnel such as Tee Martin when Kiffin joins. With Kiffin’s arrival, the expectation is no less than a championship for Baton Rouge.

Lane Kiffin has recruited ex-Tennessee quarterback Tee Martin to join his LSU staff.

The LSU Tigers expect nothing less than a title next season under Lane Kiffin. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Kiffin has added former Tennessee national champion quarterback Tee Martin to his new coaching staff in an attempt to rebuild LSU’s staff.

Martin will work as an offensive analyst, joining the team after working as a quarterbacks coach for the Baltimore Ravens since 2021. He served as an assistant coach at Tennessee from 2019 to 2029 under Jeremy Pruitt. He is most recognized for guiding the Volunteers to a title as a quarterback in 1998.

With Martin’s arrival, he is expected to assist shape QB Sam Leavitt, whom Kiffin stole from the transfer portal shortly after Leavitt concluded his recruiting trip to Tennessee. Kiffin and Martin enjoy working together after he recruited Martin at Southern California. Martin has been with the club for seven seasons, working under three different head coaches.

It will be fascinating to see how this recruiting works out, particularly during Tennessee’s home game against LSU on November 21.
