As Lane Kiffin and Co. continue to cultivate relationships with priority targets in the 2027 Recruiting Cycle, the LSU Tigers coaching staff has been travelling the nation this week.
With the new-look coaching staff controlling the Transfer Portal, the main goal upon Kiffin’s arrival in Baton Rouge was to attack the recruiting trail, but the focus has now shifted to the 2027 cycle.
This week, LSU has been flying throughout the nation while also conducting in-person and in-home visits with its top targets, including Albert Simien, the best interior offensive lineman in the country.
Peyton Houston, the best offensive recruit for LSU, has been personally contacted by Kiffin, as well as many other elite prospects in the 2027 recruiting class.
Kiffin’s Road Trip: Three Crucial Visits
No. 1: Easton Royal, the top wide receiver in the United States
As the LSU Tigers step up their pursuit for the five-star wide receiver Easton Royal, who is currently committed to the Texas Longhorns, Kiffin visited New Orleans, Louisiana’s Brother Martin School last week.
After a strong chase last fall, Royal is currently the top wide receiver in the 2027 Recruiting Cycle after switching to the Longhorns’ class. The hometown LSU Tigers are now trying to catch up.
With over 1,100 all-purpose yards for the Brother Martin Crusaders, Easton was named to the Catholic League All-District First Team during his sophomore season in 2024. He also recorded ten or more touchdowns.
In his junior season in 2025, Royal had a similar experience, demonstrating his track speed by ending the year with 17 touchdowns, 53 receptions, and 1,151 yards.
No. 2: Albert Simien – The Best IOL in the United States
As the blue-chip continues his climb in the 2027 Recruiting Cycle, Kiffin and the LSU Tigers coaching staff checked in with five-star offensive lineman Albert Simien from Lake Charles (La. ) Sam Houston on Wednesday afternoon.
During his tenure on the prep scene, Simien, the top-ranked interior offensive lineman in the nation, has steadily risen through the recruiting rankings and is now rated as the best player at his position.
During his high school career, the 6-foot-3, 265-pound junior has received offers from schools like Nebraska Cornhuskers, Alabama Crimson Tide, LSU Tigers, Florida Gators, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Texas A&M Aggies, to mention a few.
However, Kiffin is still driving the LSU Tigers forward, and he will be in Lake Charles, Louisiana, on Wednesday to meet Simien in person.
Peyton Houston, the No. 2 quarterback in Louisiana, comes in at No. 3.
For a personal meeting with Peyton Houston, the four-star quarterback for Evangel Christian, Kiffin traveled to Shreveport, Louisiana, on Thursday morning.
Houston, the second-best signal-caller in Louisiana, chose the LSU Tigers in September of last year over the USC Trojans, Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners, and other schools as his process drew to a close.
As a dedicated recruiter for the team, the 202-pound, 5-foot-10 dual-threat quarterback was the first commit in LSU’s 2027 Recruiting Class, and he has since whittled down other prospects.
To ensure that the Top-10 quarterback in the nation stays committed to the Bayou Bengals, Kiffin and Co. are now in close contact with him.
