As the program competes for his commitment, four-star linebacker Ellis McGaskin of Mobile, Alabama, will travel to Baton Rouge this weekend for an unofficial meeting with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers.
Following a crucial offseason in his process, McGaskin is again available for hire after reopening his recruitment in January, with several institutions vying for his commitment.
The 210-pound, 5-foot-11-inch player has received scholarships from numerous prestigious schools throughout his outstanding high school career, including the LSU Tigers, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Georgia Bulldogs, Florida State Seminoles, and Auburn Tigers.
During his freshman year at McGaskin in 2023, he recorded 142 tackles, 13 stops for loss, and two forced fumbles, earning him All-State accolades as a young player at the varsity level.
His sophomore season saw a similar pattern, as he once more exceeded the century mark with 130 total tackles, including 21 tackles for loss, 4 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles.
After soaring to four-star status and a Top-25 rated linebacker in the 2027 Recruiting Cycle, evaluators are now drooling over the possibility of what he may accomplish at the next level.
According to McGaskin’s defensive coordinator, who spoke to Rivals last year, “He diagnoses plays so fast that it allows him to play faster. ” “There are times when he’s really amazing to watch. Since he has a rapid initial step, every time he sees the gap open up, he is tackled for a loss.
He occasionally body slams children in his dramas. He’s making such rapid progress. His exceptional athleticism as a linebacker stems from his quick trigger and ability to rapidly identify plays.
The schedule, which will bring McGaskin to town this weekend along with an official visit scheduled for this summer, is now raising the heat for him.
With several priority targets expected to be in town for multi-day trips, Kiffin and Co. will welcome the Alabama native to a significant recruiting weekend in Baton Rouge from June 19–21.
With McGaskin visiting Baton Rouge twice during the offseason, the Bayou Bengals now have a foot on the gas for the extremely productive defender who has been rising steadily throughout his prep career.
