Terrance Smith, a four-star offensive lineman from Lansdale Catholic (Penn. ), has reduced his list to five schools, with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers competing against several heavy-hitters for the fast-rising prospect.
Smith is a top-15 interior offensive lineman in the 2027 recruiting class, with many programs vying for his dedication during his time on the high school circuit.
The 6-foot-6, 250-pounder has received offers from a slew of schools, including Ohio State, Alabama, Penn State, Kentucky, Notre Dame, Oregon, and Tennessee.
Despite Smith just publishing a top-12 list of schools last fall that did not include LSU, the intentions have changed since Kiffin and Co. arrived in town. The Tigers are back in the hunt as serious contenders.
Kiffin and Co. officially hired former Kentucky Wildcats offensive line coach Eric Wolford this offseason, and he has built a connection with Smith, whose Kentucky program recently cracked his Top-12 schools.
Now, Kentucky has parted ways with LSU.
Smith has narrowed his options to five institutions, with the LSU Tigers competing with the Rutgers Scarlet Knights, Florida Gators, Tennessee Volunteers, and Auburn Tigers.
Smith traveled to Baton Rouge in January for an unauthorized visit with the LSU Tigers coaching staff, during which the Bayou Bengals knocked it out of the park.
Less than 12 hours after his journey in town, Smith revealed his finalists, with the Tigers firmly in contention among his Top-7 – and now cut to five.
Auburn is a school that is creating attention.
“I also appreciate the fact that Auburn recruited four distinct (OL) coaches,” Smith stated to AuburnSports. com following his visit. “It reduces the burden on the staff. It is preferable to split the group and be more hands-on, rather than having every individual in one group.
Sometimes they split them into four, two separate groups, whatever was required for the given exercise. I believe it greatly aids development. “
Kiffin and his colleagues continue to prioritize the top-15 offensive linemen in America, with this offseason shaping up to be crucial in Smith’s pursuit.
