With Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers vying for the top spot, Miguel Whitley, a four-star wide receiver from St. Augustine, Louisiana, keeps finding potential candidates for his recruitment.
With schools from all over the country pursuing him, Whitley has risen swiftly to become the second-best wide receiver in Louisiana and a Top-100 prospect in the 2027 Recruiting Cycle.
The 6-foot, 170-pounder has established himself as one of the top five prospects in The Boot and has attracted scholarships from schools like the LSU Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, Arkansas Razorbacks, Texas Longhorns, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
However, other programs have been able to pique his curiosity this offseason.
With Kiffin and Co. making sure to prioritize the talented pass-catcher out of The Boot, the four-star wideout has the hometown LSU Tigers as a school firmly in the mix.
Amid personnel shifts in Baton Rouge, Kiffin traveled to New Orleans (La. ) last month to meet Whitley in person and continue to build their relationship.
Only a few days later, Whitley traveled to Baton Rouge for an unannounced visit to LSU, where Kiffin and Company once again left their mark.
With Whitley scheduled to check in with these programs this offseason, Rivals reports that an unofficial and official visit schedule has now been secured:
- Ohio State Buckeyes: March 28
- April 25: Arkansas Razorbacks
- Olle May 29 is the date of Miss Rebels’ official visit.
- Tennessee Volunteers: June 12 (official visit)
- LSU Tigers: June 19–21 (formal visit)
The Bayou State star just finished a junior season where he had 46 catches for 869 yards and 14 touchdowns, averaging 18. 9 yards per catch. He played alongside a strong St. Augustine offensive that advanced to the state championship game at the Caesars SuperDome.
Whitley’s curiosity has been piqued by the Tennessee Volunteers after a trip to Knoxville last offseason.
“Without a doubt, Tennessee has risen in my ratings. Being physically there and seeing how the coaches conduct themselves, how the players conduct themselves, and just feeling the atmosphere on campus made me feel at home even though they were already a strong candidate before the visit, Whitley said.
The focus is on Whitley, who has proven to be a crucial player for the Louisiana wide receiver as the LSU Tigers seek to complete the transaction this summer.
