Amare Patterson, a four-star wide receiver from Ridgeland, South Carolina, is considering his options during the offseason recruiting process, and Lane Kiffin’s LSU Tigers have sparked his curiosity.
After awarding him a scholarship last month, Kiffin and the Bayou Bengals wasted no time in making their presence known in Patterson’s recruitment, and he is now considered one of the top 50 wideouts in the nation.
During his time on the prep scene, the 6-foot, 180-pounder has received offers from schools like the LSU Tigers, Florida Gators, Georgia Bulldogs, Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Florida State Seminoles, among others, with LSU being one of the most recent to make it official.
However, as official visit season draws closer this offseason, Patterson is focusing on a trio of institutions in the Southeastern Conference.
As his first formal visit with the Peach State program, which is gaining momentum of its own this offseason, the highly sought-after South Carolina prospect will spend several days in Athens to see Kirby Smart and the Georgia Bulldogs from May 15–17.
Patterson will now be seeing Kiffin and company during the weekend of May 29–31 on a several-day excursion from there, where an official is now locked in with the LSU Tigers.
Although Patterson’s trip to the two schools in the Southeastern Conference that are trying to roll out the red carpet is essential, it doesn’t end there.
He’s scheduled an official visit with the Florida Gators over the weekend of June 11–13 to meet with Jon Sumrall and his revamped staff in the Sunshine State and discuss business.
A strong YAC beast that enters the end zone. Patterson can definitely put pressure on defenses vertically with his track speed, but as he threads through traffic and discovers daylight, he makes his money in the quick perimeter game, 247Sports wrote of him.
It is uncommon to be able to break free from defenders after reeling in the long ball. With his jump timing and body placement, he may be less than 6 feet 1 inch tall, but he plays bigger than the figures indicate. Demonstrates a readiness to block, and that same physical presence is evident when he has the ball in his possession.
Even though he was the victor in a protracted 1-on-1 session at The Opening Miami in the winter of his junior year, he still needs to improve his route tree and master how to consistently establish separation at all three levels. Projects as a possible difference-making Z at the Power Four level, who has the potential to wow with his vision, strength, and agility after the catch.
