Cecilia (La. ) four-star wide receiver Braylon Calais has reduced his list to six teams, with Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers still in contention for the explosive offensive talent.
Calais ranks fifth among all athletes in the 2027 recruiting class, with his rating soaring following two consecutive standout seasons for his high school team.
The 6-foot-2, 195-pounder impressed after gaining 1,059 rushing yards and 24 touchdowns on 163 carries while also totaling 411 receiving yards and four scores as a wideout during the 2024 season.
Calais excels with the ball in his hands, having excelled as a running back and wide receiver, but he also has an impact on the game as a return specialist, averaging over 32 yards per return this season.
Fast forward to his junior season in 2025, and the Louisiana native had once again taken the country by storm, with a plethora of institutions joining his recruiting.
Now, finalists have emerged for Louisiana’s top-ranked athlete, with the LSU Tigers rising in his recruitment process.
The LSU Tigers are in the company of the Ole Miss Rebels, Ohio State Buckeyes, Miami Hurricanes, Houston Cougars, and Texas A&M Aggies.
Kiffin and the LSU Tigers have stepped up their chase for Calais, with the program’s shot-caller traveling to Cecilia, Louisiana, in January to meet with the top-rated prospect.
Calais traveled with Kiffin and LSU Tigers running backs coach Kevin Smith, getting face time with both decision-makers.
Calais traveled down to Baton Rouge to meet with the coaching staff in person just days after LSU designated the Cecilia (La. ) standout as a priority.
Now, after a couple of visits with Kiffin and Co. this summer, LSU is still working to capture the great player, but other schools are competing – notably the Ole Miss Rebels in what Rivals believes is a two-team contest.
Ole Miss running backs coach Frank Wilson contacted Calais in January for an in-person visit as the SEC opponent seeks to emerge as a genuine competitor for the No. 3 rated athlete in America.
