The Philadelphia Phillies reached their lowest point early in the season when they lost game after game. The New York Mets were among the worst teams in baseball. Philadelphia suffered a slump that lasted nearly two weeks before finally getting a victory.

“The Philadelphia Phillies now hold the record for the longest losing streak in baseball, having lost their eighth game in a row and are tied with the Mets for the worst record in the National League at 8-16. ” At -50, the Phillies have the worst run differential in baseball, 15 runs worse than the next worst team, according to Jeff Passan of ESPN.

Finally, the company opted to dismiss Rob Thomson and promote Don Mattingly as interim manager.

“There’s a significant shuffle in Philadelphia. On Tuesday morning, the Phillies dismissed manager Rob Thomson. According to the team’s press statement, Don Mattingly is the interim skipper, and he will serve in that capacity for the rest of the 2026 season.

Thomson may not be the only individual the Phillies will part ways with in the near future. According to FanSided’s Christopher Kline, the club might trade Alec Bohm due to his sluggish start.

“Alec Bohm is basically the worst qualified hitter in the majors right now. He’s batting. 157 (16-for-102) with a. 444 OPS. He has one home run. Bohm has never produced much power, but he is unable to lift or propel the ball at the moment. He’s having some terrible luck (. 224 xBA), but come on. We know the agreement, but Bohm is totally lost in the weeds. The Phillies should investigate what the trade market has to offer for a 29-year-old with All-Star experience, according to Kline.

Bohm has been in a precarious position since the offseason, with doubts regarding his long-term future in Philadelphia. After a sluggish start, the team’s most reasonable option seems to be to put him on the trade block.

The Phillies also have a standout prospect in Aidan Miller, who may eventually replace Bohm when he is ready. Bohm is now on a $10 million deal, and despite his past success, both parties may want to go in different directions.
