Tennessee basketball made a significant acquisition in the Class of 2026 on Thursday afternoon.

The Volunteers secured a commitment from four-star small forward Christopher Washington Jr. , who is considered one of the top high school candidates for his position in the country.

Here’s a video of the time Washington revealed his decision:

According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Washington is now ranked as the No. 43 overall candidate in the country for the class of 2026. He attends Providence Christian Academy in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. Washington is the top high school recruit in Tennessee for this cycle.

He chose the Volunteers over offers from institutions like SMU, Oregon, and USC, among others. He had been committed to Alabama, but he renounced his commitment in November.

Rick Barnes and his team have been working diligently to complete Tennessee’s roster for the upcoming season. The Volunteers have already signed four high school prospects for next season, as well as four commitments from players via the transfer portal.

Tennessee is coming off three consecutive Elite Eight appearances. The Vols will want to make another long NCAA Tournament run next March.
