Since joining the league, wide receiver Tyler Lockett of the Seattle Seahawks has been among the NFL’s more reliable players, but the seasoned veteran may be traded.
Despite slowing down, the former third-round choice is still a valuable member of Seattle’s passing attack as he approaches his 32nd season.
After star wideout DK Metcalf, the wideout ended last year’s campaign with 79 receptions for 894 yards and five touchdowns, making him a perfect WR2.
Teams have made attempts to deal for Metcalf in the offseason, but Seattle doesn’t appear ready to give up their best wide receiver. In light of this, Seattle might be open to trading Tyler Lockett if they want to add additional selections and go younger. The one-time Pro Bowler should still be of interest to a few teams hoping to win it all or to help their quarterback, even though he wouldn’t command the same return as Metcalf.

Tyler Lockett Could Be A “Sneaky” Trade Candidate
Although they’re hardly the worst club in the league, the Seahawks aren’t really a contender either. Pete Carroll’s departure presents a chance for rookie Mike Macdonald to mold this team into his own. It’s likely that the aging Tyler Lockett won’t be part of that long-term vision, so they might as well move him. With Metcalf and 2023 first-round pick Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle has two solid receivers, therefore Lockett is not necessary for this passing offense to succeed. Seattle won’t win a championship with Geno Smith and this subpar defense, even though serious contenders hoping to win it all often require three standout weapons.
Teams around the league should be interested in getting the veteran, Tyler Lockett, and Seattle has every incentive to deal him. There should be several teams prepared to part with a Day 3 pick for the veteran Seahawk, whether it’s to add him as the piece that lacking for a contender or just to give a young quarterback some experience.
Pittsburgh Steelers could trade for Tyler Lockett
The Steelers are trying to acquire a wide receiver similar to Tyler Lockett through trade. The depth chart leaves a lot to be desired, even though George Pickens appears to be the real deal. At this stage of his career, Russell Wilson cannot carry a club by himself, and Pittsburgh shouldn’t place too much emphasis on rookie wide out Roman Wilson. Given their track records from their time in Seattle, Lockett and Wilson should have little trouble adjusting to life in Pittsburgh.
