The Kansas City Chiefs are heading into Week 6 with a much-needed dose of positive news on the health front.

After falling just short in Week 5 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, head coach Andy Reid and quarterback Patrick Mahomes are eager to turn things around when they welcome Jared Goff and the Detroit Lions to Arrowhead Stadium on Sunday night. Despite Mahomes orchestrating a late touchdown drive, Kansas City’s defense couldn’t contain Trevor Lawrence in the closing moments, leaving the team under .500 for the season.

One of the biggest storylines early this year has been the Chiefs’ missing offensive weapons. Rashee Rice has been sidelined all season while serving a six-game suspension, and rookie standout Xavier Worthy missed multiple games after an unfortunate collision with tight end Travis Kelce in the opener left him with a dislocated shoulder. Worthy made his return in Week 4 against Baltimore but briefly caused concern when he appeared on the injury report before the Jaguars game. Thankfully, he was cleared and played without issue.

Heading into the matchup against Detroit, Kansas City’s injury situation has dramatically improved. The only notable absences against Jacksonville were defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott (shoulder) and cornerback Kristian Fulton (ankle). However, both were spotted participating fully in practice this week.

Wednesday’s team report confirmed that every listed player — including Mahomes (groin), Marquise “Hollywood” Brown (ankle), and right tackle Jawaan Taylor (knee) — practiced without limitation. This means the Chiefs could finally enter a game at full strength for the first time this season.

Still, the challenge ahead won’t be easy. The Lions, sitting near the top of the NFC, are averaging 365 yards per contest and rank among the league leaders with 16 sacks. Their combination of offensive firepower and defensive pressure poses a real test for Kansas City’s bid to rebound.

The Chiefs will look to reclaim momentum when they host the surging Lions under the bright lights of Sunday Night Football. Kickoff is scheduled for 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC and Peacock.
