With the NFL offseason in full swing, players have an opportunity to focus on their personal lives before training camp begins. That allowed Goff and several other NFL stars to celebrate Higbee’s special day without conflicting football commitments.
Jared Goff and Tyler Higbee’s Friendship Dates Back to Rams Days
Goff and Higbee developed a close friendship during their time with the Los Angeles Rams after both were selected in the 2016 NFL Draft. Goff was chosen first overall, while Higbee was taken in the fourth round.
The two spent their rookie training camp as roommates, forming a strong bond that carried over onto the field. As Goff became the Rams’ starting quarterback, Higbee emerged as one of his most reliable targets. The tight end enjoyed the best statistical season of his career in 2019, recording 734 receiving yards while catching passes from Goff.
Although Goff now leads the Detroit Lions and Higbee remains with the Rams, their friendship has remained strong over the years.
Why Goff Was Able to Attend the Wedding
The Lions are currently participating in Organized Team Activities (OTAs), with the next phase beginning on June 9. The offseason schedule gave Goff enough flexibility to attend the ceremony, which was held in his home state of California.
The appearance also reflected the close relationship between the two families. Higbee and Malea attended Goff and Christen’s wedding in 2024, making the celebration a meaningful reunion.
